I would imagine that every manager in Scotland last season would have had a complaint or an issue with the Scottish FA disciplinary system and the role of the Clare Whyte, the Compliance Officer.
There are still a few weeks before the start of the new campaign and I would hope that the clubs and the SFA can come together and find a way to improve the process. It has to be done before a ball is kicked next season.
We have seen too many inconsistencies and inaccuracies in recent months and the headlines about the Compliance Officer aren’t good for Scottish football.
There might be people at the SFA that thought the system worked last season, but it certainly didn’t.
You can’t have players being punished for one thing and others being let off for the same thing.
If you ask the managers, the players and the fans, there were too many things wrong last season.
Now is the time for clear the air talks, for the rules and the role of Clare Whyte to be looked at.
