IT has been a pleasing start to the transfer window for Steven Gerrard but his work in the market certainly isn’t done yet.

The deals for Jordan Jones and Jake Hastie were done some time ago, then Steven Davis confirmed his move from Southampton and Greg Stewart arrived from Birmingham City. This week, winger Sheyi Ojo signed on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool as the squad returned to the Hummel Training Centre ahead of their camp in Portugal.

There will be more players arriving at Rangers and they will be quality additions, players that come into the team and not just the squad.

We have got guys that can come off the bench or play a part here and there, but we need ones that are better than what we have in some positions to raise the levels.

The manager is well aware of that and he knows who he needs to take Rangers to the title this season.

It is players that can win week after week and not come unstuck against the likes of Aberdeen or Hibernian, as they did last season.

Every game is a cup final for Rangers, everyone wants to beat Rangers. So you need players that can handle that pressure.

Every player that comes in has to prove that they can cope with that and show that the shirt isn’t too heavy for them when they are playing in front of 50,000 at Ibrox and huge supports when you go away.

You can’t afford to hide when you are at Rangers and the supporters will expect big things of you because you are at a big club now.

Rangers have got the basis of a really good side and now it needs the finishing touches added to it.
