NEWLY-APPOINTED Kilmarnock manager Angelo Alessio has given his first interview since joining the Ayrshire club.
In a video posted on the Rugby Park side's website, Alessio revealed why he was drawn to the job in the first place, what he will bring to Kilmarnock and what he learned working alongside Antonio Conte for eight years.
When asked about his move to Kilmarnock, Alessio explained: "When my agent called me, I recalled the last match between Kilmarnock and Rangers where they won 2-1. I saw the fans were very passionate and positive, and the team were very tight and close.
"Steve Clarke left me a big legacy. I’m very excited for the challenge ahead. I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to the Scottish league to drive Kilmarnock forward as Scotland’s oldest professional football club.
"We have good, professional players. We need to follow the same season as last year and for this, we have to work hard every day."
And Alessio revealed that he has been a busy man since he got the job at Kilmarnock.
"[I have been] organising the training sessions and looking to strengthen the team. We’ve been preparing for friendly matches and the travel to Marbella.
"I am a meticulous coach. I study the tactics before every game and I want to know everything about our opponent. I want to do attractive and positive football."
Alessio has worked as Antonio Conte's assistant at Juventus, Italy and Chelsea among others, and said that he has learned a lot from working with the highly-regarded coach.

"I worked with Antonio [Conte] for eight years. We won a lot of trophies and titles. I learned that if you want to win and continue to win, you have to work hard every day. Every single day.
"I have come here to work hard and make a team that Kilmarnock fans can be proud of. Forza Killie!"
