Celtic have named Nick Hammond as their new director of football.

The former goalkeeper had fulfiled similar roles at West Bromwich Albion and Reading prior to his appointment at Parkhead.

The 51-year-old replaces Lee Congerton, who left Celtic last month to reunite with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City, in the post.

A statement on the club's website read: "Celtic Football Club announced today that Nick Hammond will be joining Celtic on July 1 to work with the Club, initially across the summer period.

"Nick is highly regarded across football having held Director of Football and Technical Director positions at Reading FC and West Bromwich Albion FC respectively.
