DAVID Turnbull's transfer saga has taken another unexpected turn and the Motherwell midfielder is now said to be on the brink of joining Celtic, Oldham defender George Edmundson has completed a medical at Rangers and Eros Grezda has been omitted from Steven Gerrard's pre-season squad.
Turnbull set to sign for Celtic
Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull, whose move to Celtic had reportedly collapsed earlier in the week, now appears to be on the brink of joining Neil Lennon's side after all. The 19-year-old had an offer from Norwich City but Turnbull has opted to join Celtic as he believes he will get more first-team football at Parkhead.
Edmundson has Rangers medical
Oldham defender George Edmundson has undergone a medical at Rangers as the club look to finalise the £650,000 deal to bring the 21-year-old to Ibrox. The Daily Record believe that the transfer will be included in time for Edmundson to join his new team-mates on their pre-season trip to Portugal.
Grezda left out of Rangers squad
One man who won't be travelling to Portugal is Rangers winger Eros Grezda, according to reports in the Scottish Sun. The Albanian cost around £2 million when he was signed from Osijek last summer but has so far failed to make an impression in the Rangers first team.
Billionaire consortium target Jags takeover
The Scottish Daily Mail are reporting that Partick Thistle are the target of a billionaire consortium looking to take over the club. The consortium - who already own Barnsely and Nice - are said to be in talks with the Maryhill club.
Hellas Verona enter race for Rrahmani
Italy's Hellas Verona, who have been promoted to Serie A, want to sign 25-year-old Kosovo defender Amir Rrahmani, according to the Scotsman. The Dinamo Zagreb defender is reportedly a transfer target for Celtic and has already rejected a move to Standard Liege this summer.
Alessio: Conte said I was crazy to turn down Inter Milan
New Kilmarnock manager Angelo Alessio - who has served as Antonio Conte's assistant for the last eight years - has revealed that the former Chelsea boss wanted to bring him to work as his assistant at Inter Milan, where Conte has recently been appointed manager. "Antonio offered me the opportunity to follow him to Inter Milan and he told me I was crazy not to go," said Alessio. "But after eight years together the moment has arrived where you want more."
Bowie claims Alessio is Scotland's best manager
Kilmarnock's majority shareholder Billy Bowie reckons that Alessio is the best manager in Scotland. Bowie said: "We have been saying since Steve went away ‘we will have the best manager in Scottish football’. I firmly believe we’ve got the best manager."
McGregor: Europa League is a priority for Rangers
Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has told Rangers TV that a European run is the club's priority this season. The 37-year-old said: "The boys loved Europe last season, so did the fans as it hadn’t happened for a long time. Europe is a priority."
Celtic appoint director of football
Celtic have appointed Nick Hammond as the club's director of football, replacing Lee Congerton in the role. Hammond counts West Browmich Albion and Reading among his former employers and will start at Celtic Park on July 1.
Kerr: We'll learn from our mistakes
Scotland women's manager Shelley Kerr has insisted she is proud of her players despite the late capitulation to Argentina in their final World Cup match, and has vowed to learn from the mistakes made at the tournament in France. Kerr said: "We’ve been exciting and I really hope the folk back home appreciate what the players have achieved, rather than what they didn’t quite manage to, because that’s what they deserve."
FK Sarajevo players boycott training
The Daily Record are reporting that Celtic's Champions League qualifier opponents FK Sarajevo are in "turmoil" after their players refused to turn up for a pre-season training camp becuase of unpaid wages. Reports from Bosnia claim that the players are owed backpayments stretching back for months.
