GARY MCALLISTER reckons Rangers will be ‘first in line’ to clinch another loan deal for Liverpool winger Ryan Kent.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a terrific campaign at Ibrox last term and collected the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year prize.

Rangers are keen to bring Kent back to Glasgow this summer as boss Steven Gerrard bolsters his squad for another crack at the Premiership title and the domestic cup competitions.

Sheyi Ojo has already made the move from Anfield on loan and assistant manager McAllister hopes Kent will now follow the forward across the border.

He said: “It is ongoing but, as you can imagine, I don’t think Liverpool are back yet.

“So over the pre-season he will be in amongst the first team squad with three or four of the younger guys that were put on loan. The decisions at Liverpool will probably be later down the line and when they get closer to their start.

“I would say [he is worth the wait]. He has got a rapport with the fans that is second to none and there is no doubt that the levels of his performances showed that he enjoyed his time here.

“That is not just on the pitch, but in and around the training ground and I think he enjoyed the city as well, he enjoyed Glasgow.

“I think that has to be an option if he is going to go on loan. We have to be aware that Liverpool might receive bids, but you don’t know.

“But, if Ryan’s choices are going back out on loan again, he knows this place and I think we would probably be first in line.

“These guys are accustomed to playing in positions right across the front and just off the front.

“It would just give us more options, more power and pace and guile. They have got different sets of skills as well.”
