GEORGE EDMUNDSON described his move to Rangers as a dream come true after completing a deal with Steven Gerrard’s side.

Rangers had an offer of around £650,000 accepted by Oldham earlier this week and Edmundson has put pen-to-paper on a four-year contract.

Edmundson had been the subject of offers from Portsmouth and Peterborough United as a host of Championship teams showed an interest.

But the 21-year-old has got the move that he always wanted after becoming the sixth signing of the summer so far for Rangers.

Edmundson said: “This is a dream come true for me and I am so happy to get it over the line. Now I can’t wait to get going.

“I’m only a young player but to come to Rangers is a massive opportunity and I feel like I can live up to the expectation that is here.

“There were a few clubs interested but as soon as I heard Rangers were interested in me there was only one place I wanted to come to.

“I don’t think it sunk in, then I met the gaffer it was unbelievable and I can’t wait to work under him.

“The gaffer has done everything there is to do in football, so when he wants you to play for him, then you can’t turn that down.

“I think I can learn from him and improve massively.”

Edmundson will spend the coming days with his new team-mates in Portugal as boss Gerrard puts his players through their paces.

And he is confident he can make an immediate impression in Light Blue.

Edmundson told RangersTV: “I spoke to Lee Croft because he had played up here before and I spoke to Anthony Gerrard as well. I spoke to a few other people but they told me to come here.

“My heart was already set on coming here but I just needed that as back up and then I made my decision.

“I think the style of football is similar to what I am used to. It will be physical, with a lot of challenges coming in.

“But I think the quality will be a lot better and I have to live up to that. I want to win the league and cement a starting place, and then who knows.”
