JAKE HASTIE admits he will have to redouble his efforts this term after making the step up from Motherwell to Rangers.

The winger enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence in the second half of last season as he quickly established himself at Fir Park.

His form for the Steelmen was enough to win him a dream move to Ibrox as he clinched a four-year deal with the Gers.

Hastie is in Portugal with Steven Gerrard’s side as the Light Blues prepare for the Europa League qualifiers and start of the Premiership campaign.

And the 20-year-old is eager to make an impression early in his Rangers career.

Hastie told RangersTV: “It is something I am really looking forward to, especially at Ibrox with the atmosphere there and the fans – it is going to blow me away.

“It means the world to me and I am absolutely buzzing to be here. I have worked hard when I was at Motherwell and now I am delighted to be here.

“It has been tough but it has been good so far and the boys are getting fitter by the day. We just need to keep working hard.

“The boys have been absolutely brilliant with me and I felt so welcome as soon as I walked in the door. Ross [McCrorie] and I were away in Marbella [with Scotland under-21s] earlier in the year, so it makes it that bit easier when there is someone who you have been away with before. So Ross has been helping me out.

“I feel I can add a bit of directness in ‘one v ones’ and add goals and assists, and I will be looking to get as many as possible.

“I know it is going to be hard and I know I am going to have to work even harder than I did at Motherwell, but I have a belief in my ability that I’ll be able to do that.”
