Steven Gerrard has insisted that he will not quit Rangers for Derby County, Stoke City and Celtic are both reportedly interested in Luton Town's full-back Jack Stacey and Oli Burke will not return to Parkhead as long as Neil Lennon is in charge.

Gerrard downplays Derby link

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has insisted that he is going nowhere amind reported interest from English Championship club Derby County. Gerrard said that he is not motivated by the extra money on offer before insisting: "We are very proud and pleased with the progress so far but we all realise that to finish off a job like this, you have to bring success. In terms of me and the staff, our ambitions and our focus have not changed."

Celtic to battle Stoke for Stacey's signature

The Scottish Sun are reporting that Celtic and Stoke City have made enquiries about 23-year-old Luton right-back Jack Stacey, and now both clubs are preparing official bids for the defender. The Scottish Sun reckon he would cost around £2 million.

Lennon: Dembele can break into first team this season

Celtic manager Neil Lennon believes that Karamoko Dembele can make an impact on the first team at Celtic Park this season, pointing to the example of Wayne Rooney as a player who broke into the starting XI at the age of 16. "Wayne Rooney was one who made his debut at 16 too. I'm not saying Karamoko is going to be as good as him," said Lennon. "But he's a very talented player and one that I think should be mixing with the first team now."

West Brom rule out Celtic return for Burke

West Browmich Albion technical director Luke Dowling is certain that Oli Burke will not be sent back to Celtic on loan this season, because he feels that the forward wasn;t given a look-in by Neil Lennon. In reports in the Daily Record, Dowling said: "He won’t be going anywhere near Celtic with the current manager. Once Brendan [Rodgers] left to go to Leicester the treatment he got from the manager that’s in place now is something we don’t expect for one of our players."

Gerrard: I've spoken to fringe players

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has revealed that he has spoken to some of the fringe players at the Ibrox club and admitted that his current squad is too large. "The board haven’t said and they haven’t put me under any pressure but you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work out the squad is too big," Gerrard said.
