THE foundation for any good side is the spine of the team so you look at your goalkeeper, centre-backs, central midfield and strikers. If you have them, you have the basis of a successful team.

You need real power and strength in those positions and, personally speaking, I think Rangers could do with another striker during this transfer window.

Right now, we don’t know what is going to happen with Alfredo Morelos. If someone comes in and tries to take him away in the last week of business, that would be an issue.

Steven said it the other day that he didn’t want to get to the last minute and lose him because that leaves him tight for time in terms of getting someone else in. And Rangers can’t afford to be left short in the final third.

The manager and Mark Allen will have a plan in place for that eventuality so if Alfredo does move on they will know who they are going for to replace him.

In terms of keeper, back four, midfield and the wide areas, Rangers are fine when you look at the quality and the quantity of the options there.

Up front, it looks like Kyle Lafferty will move on and, as I say, we don’t know what will happen with Morelos. Now, Jermain Defoe and Greg Stewart are there, but then you are into the youngsters.

If anything is going to happen with Morelos, hopefully it happens sooner rather than later so that the manager has a chance to bring someone else in to play through the middle.

Rangers will have someone in mind and that is the only issue that could come up in what is left of the window and I still think we need another man through the middle.
