RANGERS striker Alfredo Morelos is on the radar of AC Milan after the Italians watched him in action during the Europa League clashes with St Joseph’s and Progres Niederkorn.

The Serie A giants had a scout at Ibrox last week for the second leg of the tie with St Joseph’s as Morelos scored a hat-trick in a comprehensive 6-0 win for Steven Gerrard’s side.

And the Colombian was also watched on Thursday as he failed to find the target in the 2-0 victory over Progres that puts the Gers on course for a third qualifying round berth.

Morelos has been linked with a number of clubs already this summer and Frankfurt were the latest to be credited with an interest in his services last week.

Milan have now decided to cast their eye over the 22-year-old as Marco Giampaolo prepares for the new campaign.

Giampaolo was only installed as Rossoneri boss last month as he penned a two-year deal to replace former Ibrox midfielder Gennaro Gattuso at the San Siro.

Milan missed out on a Champions League spot this term after finishing fifth in Gattuso’s final season as the helm and Giampaolo is in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer.

Rangers are aware of Milan’s interest in Morelos but there are currently no bids on the table for the 22-year-old, who has made no secret of his desire to play in one of the biggest leagues in Europe.

Morelos hit 30 goals for Gerrard’s side last season and picked up where he left off this month as he completed the scoring in the win in Gibraltar.

That was followed by an impressive hat-trick in the second leg against St Joseph’s but it was to prove a frustrating night against Niederkorn as strikes from Joe Aribo and Sheyi Ojo clinched a comfortable win for Rangers.

Boss Gerrard has repeatedly stated that he is keen to work with Morelos to improve his game and get the best out of him in the coming years.

But Rangers would be tempted to do business for their main asset this summer if their valuation of around £15million was met by any potential suitor.

That would leave Gerrard having to go back into the transfer market before the close of business to add another forward to his squad and Leeds striker Kemar Roofe has been identified as one possible replacement for Morelos.

Gerrard has Jermain Defoe and Greg Stewart as options in the final third at present after Kyle Lafferty was allowed to leave Ibrox this week and the 39-year-old confirmed he wouldn’t look to bring in another centre-forward to take the Northern Irishman’s place in his ranks.

Rangers could still add more firepower in the coming weeks as they wait on a decision from Liverpool over the future of Ryan Kent and Gerrard admitted at the weekend that he would be prepared to wait until the ‘last second’ of the window to bring the winger back to Ibrox.

He remains keen to move on another handful of players this summer and the likes of Eros Grezda, Jason Holt and Graham Dorrans have no future with Rangers after falling further down the pecking order as eight players have been brought on board ahead of the new Premiership campaign.
