Liverpool star Andy Robertson has backed Celtic's Kieran Tierney to make the right decision this summer as Arsenal remain keen on his signature.

Tierney, 22, has been consistently linked with the Gunners and has been the subject of two bids from Unai Emery's men.

Both, however, have so far been rejected with Celtic unwilling to budge on their £25m asking price for their key player.

Robbo knows what it's like to leave Scottish football for the bright lights of the English game, having left Dundee United for Hull City before becoming a fan favourite - and Champions League winner - at Anfield.

But the Scotland captain - who has played alongside KT for his country - is sure the Celtic-daft left-back will know what's best for him when and if the time comes to make a decision.

Speaking to Sky Sports in Edinburgh, Robertson said: "I’ve played with KT for Scotland and he’s played right back and centre back. I’ve watched him and he’s a very good footballer.

"Whatever happens with KT is up to him and the people around him.

"He’ll make the right choice. He’s a Celtic boy through and through and you can’t take that away from him.

"Let’s see how it unfolds. Good luck to him whatever he does."

Robertson was speaking after his side lost 3-0 to Napoli in a friendly in Scotland's capital.

Another man who was in attendance was Italian boss Carlo Ancelotti - who has also been linked with Tierney this summer.

The former Chelsea manager hailed the Scot as a "really good player".

However he put an end to speculation linking him with a move for the defender because Napoli already have two left-backs.

"Am I aware of Kieran Tierney?", he asked.

"I know him and he is a really good player. He is a really good young left back but he is a Celtic player.

"We are looking for a lot of players for this coming season but he is a Celtic player and we have two good left backs.

"But honestly I can say he is a really good player.”
