Kilmarnock's European conquerors Connah's Quay have taken a light-hearted pop at both Killie and Rangers - claiming their 2-0 win at Rugby Park proves they're BETTER than the Light Blues.

Gers managed a 2-1 win over Kilmarnock in Ayrshire this afternoon thanks to a late winner from centre-half Connor Goldson.

The defender banged in a header on 91 minutes to send Rangers fans into raptures and seal three points in their opening day fixture.

But Welsh outfit Connah's Quay were quick to point out that they managed a better result against Angelo Alessio's outfit in their Europa League qualifier earlier this summer - meaning they're a better team than Steven Gerrard's men.

Taking to social media on their official club account, the Nomads wrote: "So, we won 2-0 at Rugby Park... that makes us better than Rangers right?"

And it racked up thousands of likes and shares from footie fans across the country.

One wrote in agreement: "Yes. Better in every way."

Another commented: "Yes yous definitely are".

One person laughed: "Might buy a Nomads top because of this tweet."

The playful tweet comes hours after four men were arrested on suspicion of breaching the peace during the game at Rugby Park.
