STEVEN GERRARD mentioned in his interviews after the game on Thursday night that he needed the Ibrox crowd to be right behind his players when Hibernian visit tomorrow.

It is the first league game of the Premiership campaign and the Rangers supporters will be out on their numbers once again. It has the makings of a cracking fixture.

If Rangers are to challenge for the title this season, they need Ibrox to be a fortress and the home record has to be even better than it was last term.

Every time they play there, they need three points and that is the expectation that the players need to learn to live up to if they want to be successful here this season.

With 50,000 behind you every second week, there is a pressure on you to perform but you have to feed off that noise and that backing and you should be desperate to give them something to celebrate.

That has to start with a victory over a team that we struggled against last season. That form has to change this time out.
