SHEYI OJO knows boss Steven Gerrard has tough decisions to make on a game by game basis at Ibrox. And he is determined to give him plenty more reasons to continue picking him in the Rangers attacking line this term.

The winger has made an impressive start to his Gers career since moving from Liverpool earlier this summer.

But he faces stiff competition for a starting spot as Gerrard looks to lead his side to success.

Ojo is bidding to keep his jersey for the visit of Midtjylland.

He said: “Obviously you have to respect the manager’s decision and, like he said, there are going to be loads of games this season and everyone in the squad is going to be needed at some point.

“You have to be ready for when the opportunity comes and the players that played [against Hibernian] at the weekend played in a massive win.

“Playing football is the best feeling so when you’re not playing for whatever reason and on the sidelines then it is hard. You have got to be ready when your chance comes and help the team as much as you can.

“Especially right now, he has got loads of big decisions to make. Jermain has been brilliant since I have come, he has helped me loads on and off the pitch with advice and stuff like that. He got his hat-trick and then Buff comes on and scores two.

“You can’t start with both of them so he has got that decision to make and all across the team there are people playing well. As players, we have to make it as hard as possible to be left out of the team and then it is down to the manager’s decision."

The form of Ojo has been one of several positives that Gerrard has taken in the opening weeks of the campaign. And the Englishman is pleased to have hit the ground running this term.

Ojo said: “I love it, to be honest, because as you can see I’m able to express myself a lot more. I kind of have a freedom when I’m playing, kind of like a free role. For me, although I know it is a big responsibility, I’m happy to take that on.

“I think the manager and the other players believe in me and obviously I believe in myself so I’m enjoying it. It is similar to Liverpool, a massive club. The fans have been amazing to me, in particular, so far since I’ve come and I’m really grateful for that.

“The players and all the staff as well have really welcomed me to the squad. Like I said, I’m just enjoying my football and happy that I’m playing consistently, and I look forward to every game as they come.”
