SELLING Scottish football isn’t always easy. It is, however, a lot easier to bargain when you can offer the Champions League as part of the deal.

Celtic were always going to spend money between now and the end of the window but that has been made far more difficult after Tuesday night.

The reason Moussa Demeble and Kieran Tierney got big moves was because of how they coped in the group stage matches of the best club tournament on earth.

Celtic is a fantastic club, of course it is, but not everyone fancies playing in Scotland. The chance to play against the very best is a factor in the seriously good players coming to us over recent years.

Still, the supporters are looking for some of the money, actually quite a lot of it, to be spent over the next few weeks and I think that will happen.

Whether Neil Lennon goes for another defender and a third striker, which he did hint at, will be interesting.

But one thing I know is that after Tuesday, Celtic could do with giving the fans something to get excited about, and new signings - especially big names - always do that.

As I have mentioned elsewhere, this domestic season is going to be a huge test. Rangers have improved which means Celtic must get better as well. The club have a strategy and I’ve no problem with that. However, they also need to win back some trust which is why Neil will be given some funds.

It might be wee see a new left-back because Boli Bolingoli wasn’t trusted and if the summer signing isn’t good enough, that has to be addressed.
