WHEN Rangers knocked back multi-million pound bids for Alfredo Morelos and blocked a potential money-spinning move to China last year, his form at Ibrox undoubtedly suffered as he seemingly, and understandably, struggled to deal with a situation that he had never been in before.

That wasn’t the case during his second season in Light Blue, though, as he put the links and the speculation to one side and scored 30 goals for Steven Gerrard’s Gers.

It has been another summer of comment and conjecture surrounding the Colombian, but his focus appears only to be on scoring goals and not what the future holds.

The double Morelos netted against Midtjylland on Thursday took him alongside some illustrious company as he became only the eleventh Rangers player to score ten or more goals in European competition.

The level of opposition he has netted most of those strikes against has to be taken into consideration, of course. But nine goals from eight appearances is a terrific return and Morelos is looking better than ever.

He gave the Midtjylland defence a torrid time over the two legs and his powerful running and clinical touch proved too much for the Danes.

Getting the best out of the 23-year-old is a constant challenge for boss Gerrard and a test of his man management skills but it is a feat he has achieved so far. Morelos himself deserves most of the credit, though.

If Rangers can keep him and then maintain this form, Morelos will easily enjoy his best term yet at Ibrox.
