Rangers youngster Josh McPake is at the centre of an international tug-of-war, according to reports.
The player has represented Scotland at under-17s level but it is understood Republic of Ireland want him to play for their squad.
McPake, 17, qualifies for the Irish national squad through his grandmother.

According to the Sunday Mail, the Republic of Ireland could be set to call the youngster up to their under-21s squad next month.
McPake is a wanted man this summer with reports linking him with a loan deal to a number of clubs in the Scottish Premiership.
Steven Gerrard has also kept an eye on his development as he handed him a run-out against Oxford Utd in a pre-season friendly.
The playmaker also recently signed a new contract that will keep him at Ibrox until at least 2022.
