Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish insists Neil Lennon IS the man for the job - and urged fans to get behind him despite the Hoops crashing out of the Champions League.

The Scottish Champions' failure to make it past CFR Cluj was a bone of contention among the Parkhead faithful with a section of supporters criticising Lennon and his decisions on the night.

Sure, playing his most creative midfielder at left-back was always going to be a dodgy one.

But club icon Dalglish is adamant Lennon will come good again for his troops.

Albeit the ex-Liverpool man doesn't think there's anything to panic about right now, anyway.

Speaking in his Sunday Post column, Dalglish said: "Neil will get there because he is the right man to manage Celtic.

"He was the correct choice of the Parkhead hierarchy back in May after they won the treble Treble, and he remains so.

"They have started the season brightly in the Premiership, scored 12 goals in two league games, and sit top of the table.

"Does all of his hard work and success in the past eight months count for nothing because he loses one game?

"Yes, Neil will still be hurting from the defeat against the Romanians last Tuesday night.

"That defeat in the Champions League qualifier will have caused him a lot of pain.

"But he will have hidden in it in the past few days from his players to get everyone as upbeat as possible for yesterday’s League Cup tie against Dunfermline.

"Under trying circumstances and in the face of adversity, he will have displayed tremendous leadership, that’s for sure."

Celtic hobbled past the Pars in Saturday's Betfred Cup tie with an extra-time winner from James Forrest proving the difference.

The result means Lennon and his players remain in the hunt for an historic quadruple Treble.
