CELTIC have reportedly opened negotiations with Kilmarnock for the transfer of Greg Taylor, Jordan Ibe has distanced himself from rumours linking him with a move to Celtic Park and Steven Gerrard has urged the Ibrox crowd to help get Rangers over the line in their Europa League tie against Legia Warsaw.

Ibe distances himself from Celtic

Bournemouth winger Jordan Ibe has rubbished rumours of a potential move to Celtic Park. The 23-year-old winger told the Mirror: “That Celtic thing, I don’t know about that. Any speculation stuff I don’t get involved with.”

Rangers midfielder ‘targeted with missiles’

Rangers played out a goalless draw in Warsaw last night in the first leg of their Europa League tie against Legia, with the Scottish Sun reporting that midfielder Steven Davis was ‘targeted with missiles’ thrown by the home support when he was taking a corner. BBC commentator Alasdair Lamont described the situation: “There's a couple of missiles coming down from the fans behind the goal. The fans have been very good but they are throwing stuff down towards Steven Davis."

Alessio wants Taylor to stay for one more season

Kilmarnock boss Angelo Alessio admitted that he is unsurprised by interest in Greg Taylor, but has asked the 21-year-old to stay at Rugby Park for one more year. Alessio said: “It is important for the club and for me that Greg stays for one more season. The next year, we shall see. For me, it’s very important Greg Taylor stays here.”

Gerrard: Home crowd can spur us on

In the wake of last night’s 0-0 draw with Legia Warsaw, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has urged the club’s supporters to help his side get over the line in the home leg of the tie. Gerrard said: “What’s important is that we have four sides of the ground right us with us from start to finish. With the crowd and the experience we have in the team, that could be crucial, especially towards the end of the game.”

Celtic ‘move’ for Taylor

The Daily Record are reporting that Celtic have made an enquiry to Kilmarnock over left-back Greg Taylor, with the Rugby Park side putting a £3 million price tag on the 21-year-old. The Record believe that Celtic will make an opening bid for the Scotland international within the next 48 hours.

Alessio: Hamalainen is not Taylor’s replacement

However, Killie manager Angelo Alessio has insisted that new left-back Niko Hamalinen is not a replacement for Taylor. Alessio told the Press Association: “I want two players for every position. We have Greg Taylor at left-back and now we have Hamalainen.”

Ex-Rangers winger told to find new club

Livingston winger Gregg Wylde, who came through the youth ranks at Ibrox, is on the lookout for a new club after being told that he is surplus to requirements at the Tony Macaroni Arena. Livi manager Gary Holt told the Scottish Sun: “Gregg is free to leave - simple as that. He’s been training and playing with the reserves and part of that.”

Lennon: Keeping my goalkeepers happy will be a struggle

Celtic chalked up a relatively straightforward 2-0 win over AIK Stockholm in the first leg of the Europa League play-off last night and announced the signing of Fraser Forster on a season-long loan during the match, with manager Neil Lennon admitting it will be a difficult challenge to keep his three goalkeepers happy. He said: “I’ve got three outstanding goalkeepers now and it’s a department that is very important. It will probably be difficult to keep them all happy, but we have strong competition and that’s what I want.”
