Rangers legend Alex Rae reckons defender Borna Barisic isn't Ibrox class and believes Steven Gerrard might sell him sooner rather than later.

Former midfielder Rae, 49, questioned the left-back's quality during BT Sport coverage of this afternoon's Scottish Premiership clash at St Mirren.

Barisic has been in and out of the squad this season, failing to cement his place on the left - with Jon Flanagan and Andy Halliday both playing their share of games in that position.

Yet after the Croatian was named in the starting lineup for today's game, Rae claimed the club is too big for the player.

And he predicts Barisic could be set to exit Ibrox if he doesn't shape up.

Rae said: "Barisic has struggled, really struggled to cope with the weight of the badge.

"I think it's too big for him and it may be a case of having to ship him out.

"I watched him down at Kilmarnock and he struggled.

"He's been given an opportunity this season and I think he's got a long way to go to impress everyone at Rangers."
