New Celtic signing Greg Taylor has paid a heartfelt tribute to Kilmarnock for allowing him to make his dream come true and sign for the Scottish champions.

Taylor, 21, penned a four-year deal at Parkhead on deadline day and immediately moved to endear himself to his new fans by revealing his desperation to play for the Hoops.

Having spent seven years in Ayrshire, though, Taylor wasn't ready to forget where he came from.

Waiting to finalise Celtic move was 'mental torture', says Greg Taylor

Nor would he forget which club gave him the platform to perform consistently well, earning him a move and Scotland caps in the process.

So, the minute the ink was dry on his Celts contract and his club obligations complete, he went straight about hailing Killie as a "special club" - and thanked them for his time there.

Posting on social media, Taylor wrote: "I'd like to thank Kilmarnock football club for a great seven years. From academy football to the playoff final, finishing third and into Europe.

"I would be here all day if I were to name every single person at the club who has helped me but I would not be the player or more importantly the person I am today.

Greg Taylor: Expectations at Celtic will bring out the best in me

"A special thanks to every teammate I have played alongside, to every manager that put their trust in me and to each and every member of staff who work tirelessly every season as this special club.

"A special thanks to the board who have let me take an opportunity to progress in my career.

"Most importantly I would like to thank the fans for their unwavering support and backing from day one.

"It was an honour and a privilege to play in front of you every week and I wish Kilmarnock every success in the future.

"Thank you and good luck for the season."

Taylor was one of three deadline day signings for Neil Lennon's Celtic as they also bought Jeremie Frimpong and Lee O'Connor from Manchester clubs City and United respectively.
