Ex-Rangers captain Barry Ferguson reckons Celtic star Odsonne Edouard could prove to be better than Moussa Dembele.

Edouard has been firing on all cylinders for the Hoops so far this season.

He's scored six goals in 11 games including one against rivals Rangers at Ibrox before the international break.

But it's not just his domestic form that's had fans and pundits purring.

The 21-year-old scored four times for France under-21s in just two games as he burst onto the scene against Albania and Czech Republic.

Moussa Dembele, meanwhile, was a heroic figure among Celtic fans.

The Frenchman earned a £20million switch to Lyon after netting 51 goals in 94 games for the Scottish champions.

And while he's still tearing it up in Ligue 1 for Lyon - and scoring for World Cup winners France - Ferguson believes that Edouard, 21, can be a better player than his former teammate if he continues his consistent level of performances.

Speaking on PLZ Soccer, Ferguson said: "I think Edouard has the potential to be better than Dembele.

"When he's on the top of his game he's a real handful.

"One on one you always fancy him scoring.

"He looks lazy at times but that's his just his mannerisms, when he's on fire he's a top striker."
