Barry Ferguson admits he was shocked to see Ryan Kent start for Rangers against Livingston.
Gers' new signing Kent, 22, lasted just 40 minutes against the Lions when he was forced off seemingly in tears with a hamstring injury.
Ferguson - manager at Kelty Hearts - refused to question Steven Gerrard's decision to start the winger who hasn't played a competitive fixture in a number of months.
But he did tell of his surprise at the decision to include Kent in the starting XI so early into his second spell at Ibrox following his £7million move from Anfield.
He told PLZ Soccer: "I was surprised the manager started with him, he's not played a lot of football.
"I can imagine he would've been desperate just to get him out there.
"We don't know how long he's going to be missing, if it's four or six weeks.
"Hamstring injuries are a sore one.
"At the end of the day it was just about getting the three points.
"The performance wasn't great but it's the three points."
