Ex-Stoke and Ireland striker Jonathan Walters believes Celtic "weren't a good fit" for hotshot Norwich striker Teemu Pukki.

The Finnish international flopped at Parkhead during his short spell in Glasgow in 2013.

He endured a miserable time of it on the pitch, scoring just nine times in 37 appearances for the Hoops.

Now at the Canaries, Pukki looks a completely different player.

Reborn after a stint in Denmark with Brondby, Pukki bagged himself 29 goals in the English Championship last season.

He's started this season in terrific form, too, in the Premier League - scoring eight goals in seven games including the winner against champions Manchester City last weekend.

Walters, who played against the star last season before he retired, was full of praise for the former Celt.

But he reckons things didn't work out for him at Parkhead because the two just didn't mesh.

"Fans wrote off Teemu Pukki and Virgil van Dijk - my Celtic new boys can come good"

Speaking on Paddy Power's Liquid Football YouTube show, Walters said: "[Pukki] has not just been bought in the summer and come to a Premier League team.

"He's carried on with Norwich from last year.

"Sometimes players go to clubs and it's not a good fit, at Celtic it might not have been a good fit for him.

"Whether that be family or anything else, it just doesn't work out.

"He's obviously on fire at Norwich, but sometimes that happens with players."
