Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths is OUT of this evening's Rennes clash.

Manager Neil Lennon confirmed that the Scottish hit man has not travelled to be with his teammates for their Europa League Group E opener.

A thigh injury has kept him at home.

Celtic are 'one of the favourites', says Rennes manager Julien Stephan

However Lennon expects the player to be back fit for Sunday's action against Kilmarnock.

He said: "Leigh Griffiths picked up a thigh knock so he hasn't travelled.

"He should be good for the weekend."

Griffiths was unlikely to play from the start regardless of fitness, however, with Odsonne Edouard in such fine form.

The Frenchman picked up August's Player of the Month award having scored six goals in 12 games - including the opener on derby day earlier this month.

He also bagged four in two matches for France under-21s against Albania and Czech Republic.
