Celtic boss Neil Lennon has called on the French connection within the dressing room to help the Hoops off to a flier against Rennes this evening.

A trio of his big-hitters hail from tonight's host country.

August's Player of the Month Odsonne Edouard, £7million man Christopher Jullien and midfield dynamo Olivier Ntcham could make up the spine of Lennon's XI.

Celtic are 'one of the favourites', says Rennes manager Julien Stephan

The manager knows his Bhoys are in for a difficult evening against Julien Stephan's troops.

But he reckons his Frenchmen will feel they have a point to prove in their home country - and he hopes they do so tonight.

Lennon said: "I could be tempted to pick Ntcham because he's a good player.

Pierre van Hooijdonk urges Odsonne Edouard not to be distracted by transfer talk

"Jullien knows the environment very well and Odsonne has been away with the under-21s and done fantastically well.

"I always think going back to your home country is a great incentive to show the people back home, family, friends, how much you've come on and developed.

"I think there is a little bit of extra motivation for these players, there's no question."
