Steven Gerrard has taken a swipe at the SFA over kick-off times for his Rangers side after Europa League clashes - blasting the early starts as "crazy".

Gers managed an opening day win over Feyenoord at Ibrox on Thursday evening thanks to a Sheyi Ojo strike.

Gerrard was delighted with his team's performance but admits he was unable to celebrate too wildly because his troops need to be ready for this afternoon's early kick-off against St Johnstone at 12.15pm.

Steven Gerrard: We gave Rangers fans a performance to be proud of - now we must maintain that

And he called out the SFA for their unhelpful scheduling - claiming they should be doing all they can to appease Scots clubs playing in Europe, not doing the opposite.

He said: "[Feyenoord] was a good performance and the players will get a lot of credit for it and rightly so.

"For me it's important we move on as quick as we can, that's always going to be the case.

"The games are coming thick and fast and we have to learn to move on as quick as we can because St Johnstone will be a difficult challenge, a different challenge.

"We have to get the players recovered as quick as we can and get some energy into them for the game because, unfortunately, the SFA don't help us in situations like this.

"They give you the 12.15pm kick-off which is crazy."

Asked when he'll next have the chance of a full week's training before a game, he added: "I don't know. It'll probably be after the international break but then you've got a different situation because you've got players coming in from all over the world.

"Some have played two 90 minutes, some might have a bit of jet lag, the likes of Scott Arfield and Alfredo Morelos, so that's a different type of challenge.

"We're not complaining, it's the way it is, we'll get on with it.

"But for the likes of ourselves and Celtic you would like to think that our own league would help us in terms of kick-off times, but they go the other way and make them earlier and give morning kick-offs."
