In an era of players badge kissing and phoney love affair claims after just one game, Kieran Tierney is somewhat of a throwback.

The Arsenal defender has never hidden his love for Celtic.

It's doubtful he ever will.

Kieran Tierney steps up recovery by playing for Arsenal under-23s vs Wolves

Clever fans can oftentimes see right through false emotions, so perhaps that's why Gunners supporters have taken to KT so quickly - having not kicked a ball for their first-team yet.

The hard-working left-back, 22, wears his heart on his sleeve and will give Arsenal everything he has.

After all, he joined in a record-breaking £25million switch from Parkhead and will know he has to deliver.

One battle he's already won, though, is that fans are onside with his persona - down to earth, honest and humble.

When asked by Arsenal TV which stadium is his favourite, Celtic Park was the answer.

His three favourite players of all-time? All Hoops legends.

No pandering to his new followers.

The only mention of any Gunners players was when specifically asked who his favourite Arsenal player is.

Some Hoops fans gave treble Treble winning Tierney stick when he left Parkhead, and that's their prerogative.

A real Celtic diehard would never leave the club for money, they sneered.

But Tierney is a real Celtic fan and the prospect of earning £70,000 per week and playing against some of the world's best players on a weekly basis won't change that.

And Arsenal fans themselves remain full of respect for their new player's unwavering love for his boyhood heroes.

In response to the aforementioned Arsenal TV clip, plenty of supporters gave the Scotland cap their approval, despite his fierce loyalty.

In fact - they loved it.

One said: "He doesn't pretend to love Arsenal all of a sudden. I like him."

Another added: "You have to appreciate his love for Celtic, can’t have been an easy decision for him to join us".

One wrote: "He is very honest and not pretending that he likes Emirates stadium and all that".

A fourth responded: "What a down to Earth lad.

"I'm loving him and his attitude already and he hasn't even played a single minute for us yet."

What you see is what you get with Tierney.

As a fan of Scottish football, I, for one, hope his debut - whenever it may be - goes well.

I hope he does for Arsenal what Andy Robertson has managed for Liverpool.

If anything it'll only give our national team another world class player - and how can that ever be a bad thing?

It's just refreshing to know that normal, everyday lads still exist within a world of egos.
