Gary McAllister hopes Rangers' trophy hunt becomes a bit like waiting for a bus.

You know, that old saying.

You wait forever for one and then loads come along at once.

Gers have been waiting for a major trophy since 2015 when they lifted the Scottish Championship title and won promotion back to the country's top tier.

Gary McAllister delivers Ryan Kent injury update and reveals Brandon Barker is doubt for Livingston clash

In terms of cup victories, their last win came in 2010 when they lifted the League Cup - if you don't count the Petrofac Training Cup in 2016.

McAllister, then, is desperate to win this season's Betfred Cup with their quarter-final against Livingston being played at the Tony Macaroni Arena tomorrow evening.

The assistant boss also hopes that, if they can manage to lift the silverware, that it acts as a catalyst for more success.

Rangers out to stop Celtic winning 10 in-a-row, before stopping nine in-a-row, says Gary McAllister

He said: "This is an early opportunity to try and get to Hampden so we're trying to keep momentum going.

"People might look at it and think that this is at the bottom of our priority list but, no, this club needs to win.

"We'll be very strong and our preparation will be diligent, as it's been in this recent run of great results."

McAllister added: "Our first trophy would bring back greater belief within the club and our fantastic fanbase.

"Getting that first one is crucial and this is the one that comes early."
