Arsenal legend Ray Parlour reckons the emotional pull of Liverpool would be too great for Steven Gerrard to turn down - even if it meant leaving Rangers.

Gerrard has been touted as the man to replace Jurgen Klopp when the German decides to leave the hotseat at Anfield.

The Red manager himself even revealed he expects to be succeeded by Gerrard when the time comes.

Jurgen Klopp says Rangers boss Steven Gerrard should be man to replace him at Liverpool

Parlour is certain the ex-captain would rejoin his former club at the drop of a hat.

And he highlighted old England teammate Frank Lampard - who left Derby County for Chelsea this year - as a blueprint he'd imagine Gerrard would follow should the opportunity present itself.

Speaking to Alan Brazil on talkSPORT, Parlour said: "If [Gerrard] did leave Rangers, I’m sure it would be a stepping stone ready to go to Liverpool.

"A little bit like Frank Lampard, sometimes you get clubs that you can’t turn down and I’m sure the owners would understand.

"It’s like Frank, he couldn’t turn Chelsea down, as much as an ideal world he would like to have done another season at Derby, he just couldn’t turn going back to Chelsea down – and Steven will be exactly the same."
