GLEN KAMARA reckons Rangers can be pleased with the way they dug deep to see off Livingston and clinch a Betfred Cup semi-final spot.

Steven Gerrard’s side set up a Hampden date with Hearts as they beat the Lions for the second time in a fortnight.

Kamara got the only goal of a hard fought and physical encounter at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

And the midfielder was relieved to emerge with their silverware ambitions still intact.

Kamara said: “A goal is always a bonus but getting through was the main thing the other night.

“I was happy with that. It was always going to be a tough game.

“It was a cup game so you expect a few tough challenges and there were a few wrong decisions.

“It was always going to be a scrappy game away from home on Astroturf. But we got the job done. We showed a bit of steel.

“Last season we might have draw or lost this game. Sometimes you need to battle it out and we did that the other night.

“We’re excited about the semi-final. You want to be playing in the big games like the semis and final.

“Hearts are a decent team so we’ll expect another tough game but we will look forward to it. The players are just looking forward to every game and trying to win each game.”

There was a touch of good fortune about the winning goal for Rangers as Kamara’s strike from the edge of the box was deflected into the net after four minutes.

The Finnish internationalist only has one other goal to his credit for the Gers and h said: “I definitely want to improve my goal tally.

“It’s something we work on in training, but we work on everything. If I can add that to my game then great.

“The manager has mentioned it to me, but as a team as well.”
