Gordon Smith believes Rangers can target Celtic flop Saidy Janko in their Europa League clash this evening - though the defender will be desperate to prove he's not a dud.

Janko was shipped out of Parkhead after a poor stint following his move from Manchester United in 2015.

Just 12 appearances as a Celtic player before he left to join Barnsley on loan, Janko's time was summed up by a dismal performance away from home in Europe against Hapoel Be'er Sheva.

But while Smith reckons Gers can pinpoint Janko to attack down the Young Boys left-flank, he is sure the Swiss player will have a point to prove in his mind.

He said: "It's possible that Steven Gerrard could look to exploit Saidy Janko but the player will be desperate to do well.

"It didn't work out for him at Celtic and he's moved since then to Saint Etienne and Nottingham Forest. Porto had him and didn't play him.

"He's only on loan so he'll be trying to make a name for himself.

"He'll be desperate to show the Scottish public and Rangers fans that he was a good player and that he wasn't a failure in Scotland because of his ability."
