Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has hinted that he could don a Light Blues jersey in this weekend's legends game between Gers and Liverpool - as the club left the number eight shirt vacant.

Gerrard has been announced as playing for Liverpool this Saturday when the two sets of former players meet in a charity match at Ibrox.

He will wear his iconic number eight for the visiting side which includes players like Emile Heskey, Luis Garcia, Dirk Kuyt and Patrik Berger.

But the current Rangers manager also implied that he may well provide home fans with the sight they're desperate to see - the gaffer as a Gers player.

Speaking to Rangers TV on the game he said: "I always look forward to a game of football but I'm going to have to loosen my hips, knees and ankles up because they've seized as I've not played for so long.

"I'm going to play for Liverpool against Rangers and give it my all.

"And who knows, there might be a little cameo in a blue shirt, we'll have to wait and see."

Rangers heroes to be involved include Pedro Mendes, Nacho Novo, Michael Mols and Jorg Albertz.
