Alex Rae has blasted Ryan Christie's challenge from the weekend as "one of the worst you'll see" and claims the playmaker was lucky not to break Livingston star Scott Robinson's leg.
Christie scythed down Robinson in the first-half of Celtic's 2-0 defeat to Livi at the Tony Macaroni and was shown a straight red card.
The Hoops hero received abuse from a small section of support and was forced to delete his Twitter account.
But former Rangers midfielder Rae, 50, reckons Robinson managed to escape serious injury from Christie's reckless tackle.
Speaking on Ladbrokes Social Club, Rae said: "It's as bad a tackle as you're going to see and he's actually fortunate that he doesn't break [Robinson's] leg.
"Normally when you're going towards someone like that you realise that he's going to go through you, so you try and pull out of the tackle.
"The Livingston player has went straight through it, his leg has recoiled."
