Manchester United should turn their attentions to Celtic star Odsonne Edouard, claims ex-Rangers striker Kris Boyd.

Boyd is a big fan of the Frenchman who won Player of the Month for August and has started the season on fire for both club and his France under 21s side.

Edouard has proven himself a goal scorer with 42 goals in 98 appearances since his £9m move from PSG.

Charlie Nicholas says Celtic star Odsonne Edouard irritates him - but he's still cut above Alfredo Morelos

And although he cost the Hoops a princely sum in the context of the Scottish market, Boyd reckons the fee he will go on to leave Celts for down the line will blow it out the water.

Boyd - who counts Middlesbrough, Kilmarnock and Portland Timbers among his former clubs - has suggested Ole Gunner Solskjaer takes a chance on Edouard.

But, speaking to Sky Sports, he also hinted that even the so-called smaller clubs in England's top tier will be able to splash the cash on the striker should they wish to do so.

He said: "Talk about playing with France, is it a possibility? Yes. Do I think he'll do it with Celtic? No.

Moritz Bauer praised by Celtic fans for acting as Odsonne Edouard's TRANSLATOR

"That'll be in the back of his mind, he'll need to make that move if he's going to get in the French squad.

"I don't think it'll be January, but come next summer, if there's something of £25-30million, which is reasonable for me, I think this guy will go to the very top.

"If I was Manchester United, I would come in and give the £25-30million in the summer.

"I wouldn't be surprised if a Brighton or an Aston Villa come in and pay the £30million for Odsonne Edouard and then he goes again."
