Ronald Koeman has heaped praise on Rangers star Steven Davis and explained how any manager would love a player like the midfielder in their side.

Koeman and Davis worked together at Southampton for two years where the Northern Irishman was skipper.

Having signed under Nigel Adkins from Ibrox, Davis was one of the hardest workers in the squad.

And Barcelona legend Koeman waxed lyrical about the Gers ace and credited him as being a "great pro".

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of this evening's Euro 2020 qualifier between The Netherlands and Northern Ireland, Koeman said: "You like to have all the players like him because he is a great professional.

"Quality player, he's good on the ball and he's the captain.

"Plus, he is always working.

"That's what you like to have everybody [like him] in your team."
