JON MCLAUGHLIN: Had one sclaffed 40-yard shot to deal with in first half and another from range after the break. That was about it. 6

LIAM PALMER: Positive showing from the full-back who was playing more as a right-winger for the most part. Showed good strength and pace. 6

MIKEY DEVLIN: Quite the difference in task to last Thursday night, but Aberdeen man did what little work he had to well. Kept it simple in possession and never troubled at the back. 6

STUART FINDLAY: Lovely diagonal to Christie to tee up opening goal and won a header to set up McGinn again for his hat-trick. Unruffled at the back on his debut and a threat at set-pieces, as he proved with fifth goal. 7

ANDY ROBERTSON: Nice early forward passing and linked up well with Forrest. Crossing didn’t always find the mark but a decent night from the captain. 6

JOHN MCGINN: Midfielder given benefit of the doubt in getting a toe on the opener, but no debate that he got the second as he popped up to take advantage of Simoncini’s error. Claimed hat-trick before break and deserved it. 8

SCOTT MCTOMINAY: Picked up a harsh booking but then set up the second goal with a forceful run and cross. Great strike came off the bar for Shankland to roll home too. Looked better further forward. 7

CALLUM MCGREGOR: Always available for a pass and dictated things for Scotland from the middle of the park. Given rest for last 20 minutes. 7

RYAN CHRISTIE: Faces a fight with McGinn to claim first goal but lovely touch to set it up in any case. Full of energy and a real threat all night. 7

JAMES FORREST: Had his man on toast early on and got into great areas. Didn’t always have the end product, but a satisfactory night’s work from the winger. 6

LAWRENCE SHANKLAND: Denied early opener by a great Simoncini save and didn’t have too many sniffs after that. Worked hard to get involved though and got his reward as he rolled in the fourth to get off the mark for his country. 7
