Tony Watt has hit back at former teammate Kelvin Wilson after the defender claimed he wasn't focused enough to be a Hoops star.

Wilson played alongside Watt for Celts back between 2011-2013.

The big centre-half told Si Ferry's Open Goal podcast that he expected more from Watt and discussed the comparison between the striker and James Forrest's professionalism.

Wilson said: "Jamesy wants to just learn the game, he wanted to do well.

"Tony maybe wanted the limelight of a footballer kind of thing where Jamesy wanted to be a good footballer, a good professional."

But Watt took umbrage with Wilson's comments and took to social media to bite back - more than nine months after the original interview.

He said: "Couldn’t care less what kelvin Wilson says about me to be honest!

"Respected him as a player and still respect him as a man BUT his opinion means nothing to me.

"And I don't agree with it!"

Watt's retaliation racked up hundreds of likes and shares with plenty of fans giving their thoughts.

One backed Watt, saying: "You have a better legacy as hoops player than he ever will. He left because he was homesick."

Another said: "Be who you want to be not who people think you should be".

Others agreed with Wilson's criticism.

One wrote: "He's spot on to be fair."

Another commented: "He is right. U could have done a bit more than just the Barca goal.

"Still gave me one of the best moments as a Celtic fan".
