ENGLAND strolled to a 6-0 win over Bulgaria in Sofia on Monday evening but the game was tarnished by ugly scenes from the home support at the Stadion Vasil Levski.

The match was twice brought to a halt following racist abuse directed towards the visiting players from the stands, but the England team decided to play on in spite of the chants.

There has been widespread criticism of the Bulgarian fans' behaviour from the England players, coaching staff, the FA and the UK media in the wake of the Euro 2020 qualifier and Inverness striker Nikolay Todorov has joined them to condemn the chanting from the home crowd.

Posting on Twitter, Todorov wrote: "Embarrassing what happened last night!

"It's 2019 and that's still happening. I'm [a] proud Bulgarian and [a] couple of individuals should not ruin the image of the whole nation.

"I hope those responsible get brought to justice."
