Gary Hooper has told of his delight at making a shock move to Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand.
The former Celtic striker put pen to paper on a deal with the A-League side for a year.
It comes a short time after his proposed move to Iran with Esteghal fell through.
Hooper had also previously been linked with a potential switch to Bristol City - another move which didn’t materialise.
He took to Instagram earlier this morning to confirm his new club.
He posted: “Delighted to have signed for Wellington Pheonix cannot wait to get out on the pitch and get back to scoring goals. @WgtnPhoenixFC”.
The club were also more than happy to welcome him to New Zealand.
Hooper previously hinted at a desire to return to Celtic after he liked and shared a fan’s plea to get him back at Parkhead on Twitter.
The striker, 31, scored 82 goals in 138 games for the Hoops in a three year stint.
