ALLAN MCGREGOR Made a smart save to deny Mulraney but was left helpless as Meshino then scored from the edge of the area. Booked for dissent after half an hour and wasn’t tested as much as Craig Levein would have hoped. 6

JAMES TAVERNIER Made another high-profile and costly mistake as his weak header was cut out in the build-up to the opener. That set the tone for a poor performance as he provided no quality in the final third. 5

CONNOR GOLDSON Could perhaps have cleared the ball rather than leave it to Tavernier ahead of the Hearts’ opener but steady after that. Had plenty of possession as he tried a series of long diagonals towards Barisic. 6

NIKOLA KATIC His more physical approach would have played a part in him getting the nod to go up against Ikpeazu and it was a compelling battle. Handled himself well enough overall. 6

BORNA BARISIC Comfortable defensively in the first half and gradually found himself playing further up the park as Rangers recovered from their early setback. Not involved as much after the break. 6

GLEN KAMARA Couldn’t get a foot on the ball in the opening minutes but steadily grew into the first half and was better in possession. Tidy but not overly influential thereafter. 6

STEVEN DAVIS The best of the midfield three once again. Almost scored with a header from range in the first half and saw an effort deflected wide shortly after the break. 7

JOE ARIBO Returned to the starting line-up after scoring against Brazil during the international break but he couldn’t cut Hearts open here. Not at his best and Rangers needed more. 6

SCOTT ARFIELD Didn’t see enough of the ball in the opening exchanges and caused Hearts few problems as he worked hard for little reward. Saw appeals for a penalty waved away just before he was replaced. 6

SHEYI OJO Up against youngster Hickey down the Gers’ left but wasn’t at his best as he struggled to make an attacking impression. Only lasted until the hour mark and could have no complaints about making way first. 4

ALFREDO MORELOS Starved of service for most of the first half but typically made the most of his only real opening as he levelled just before the break with a clinical finish. Gave as good as he got in duel with Berra and performed well overall once again. 7

Substitutes:

RYAN KENT (for Ojo) Couldn’t inspire Rangers to victory as he returned to action after his spell on the sidelines. 5

GREG STEWART (for Arfield) Had few opportunities to make an impact in the closing stages. 3

JERMAIN DEFOE (for Morelos) The final throw of the dice but never got a sight of goal. 3
