MOHAMED ELYOUNOUSSI says it was about time teammate Christopher Jullien came up with the goods after heading home the last-gasp winner against Lazio on Thursday night.

The big defender has been taking stick from his teammates after blowing multiple opportunities to get on the scoresheet since his only goal for the club against AIK back in August, and winger Elyounoussi made sure to get a playful dig in as he looked back on a memorable evening at Celtic Park.

“What a night,” Elyounoussi said. “To come back from a goal down is amazing, it shows the character of this team. It was great. I am happy.

“We believed in ourselves, the coach made sure of that. When we came into the dressing room at half-time we believed we could turn it around.

“We came out and put more pressure on them, they started to make mistakes, and it is about time big Chris scored as well!

“He has had a few chances in other games, but I’m really happy for him and I’m happy for the team that we got the three points.

“It was a difficult game, they were better than us in the first half, and I think we were better than them in the second half.

“They had a few counter attacks and Fraser (Forster) was unbelievable for us, some of his saves were incredible and he kept us in the game.”

Elyounoussi is hoping that Celtic have put themselves in pole position to qualify from Group E with the win over the Italians, but his focus now is solely on Aberdeen.

“We are in a strong position,” he said. We have to win our home games, especially when we have that fantastic crowd behind us.

“We enjoyed Lazio, but now we have to focus on a difficult away game at Aberdeen.

“Hopefully everyone is ready.”
