ALLAN MCGREGOR Could perhaps have done better at the opening goal as Cole netted from the edge of the box. Rarely troubled thereafter. 6

JAMES TAVERNIER Retains the faith of his manager but fans are increasingly concerned with their captain’s form. A first half penalty miss summed up another mixed 90 minutes but got an assist for the winner. 6

CONNOR GOLDSON Coped well enough with a physical Motherwell attack. Took a blow to the head early in the second half but recovered to see it out. 6

FILIP HELANDER Turned in his best performance for Rangers in midweek and was impressive once again here. Solid and steady throughout and headed finish was excellent. 7

BORNA BARISIC Continued his fine form with another good showing. Always willing to get forward down the left flank. 7

SCOTT ARFIELD Covered a lot of ground and put in a lot of running but couldn’t unlock the Steelmen defence. Capable of better. 6

JOE ARIBO Saw plenty of the ball in the middle of the park but didn’t do enough to hurt Motherwell. A low key afternoon for the Nigerian international. 5

STEVEN DAVIS The best of the midfield three by some distance. Rarely wasted the ball and looked to drive Rangers on. 7

GREG STEWART Showed some nice touches and can’t be faulted for effort. Not a lot came off on a frustrating afternoon. 6

BRANDON BARKER Kept his place in the side after a decent showing in Porto. Looked bright at times but forced off before the break with a shoulder injury. 5

JERMAIN DEFOE Had little service before he pulled Rangers level with a clinical finish on the stroke of half-time. Another good showing. 7

Substitutes:

RYAN KENT (for Barker) Earlier than expected introduction and looked threatening. Rangers needed a bit more from him at times. 6

SHEYI OJO (for Stewart) Hasn’t hit the heights in recent weeks. Tried his best to get involved and had a couple of bursts forward. 4

ALFREDO MORELOS (for Aribo) Got a huge ovation when introduced with 19 minutes remaining. Didn’t need to be the Ibrox hero, though. 5
