SHEYI OJO reckons Rangers could give themselves a Premiership title boost by landing the Betfred Cup.

Steven Gerrard’s side booked their place in the Hampden final with a routine 3-0 victory over Hearts on Sunday.

Now Old Firm rivals Celtic stand between the Gers and a first piece of major silverware in eight years.

Rangers have made an impressive start to the campaign at home and abroad and have Europa League goals to achieve as well as domestic aims in the coming weeks.

And Ojo is determined to keep the momentum and feelgood factor building at Ibrox this term.

“It is a great feeling as it is a good few years now since Rangers got to a final,” Ojo said. “It’s amazing for the fans and the players are delighted for them. The manager told us about how long it has been without a trophy. He told us all that is the reason why we are all here. It is all about this club getting to finals and winning finals.

“Across the board I thought we were outstanding against Hearts. Now we can’t wait for the final.

“That was the reason I joined the club. I want to try and help them win trophies. Now we have a massive opportunity to do that.

“The first goal was to reach the final. Now we will enjoy the victory and start focusing on the next game against Porto.

“It would be a major boost leading into the rest of the season [if we won the cup]. To get a trophy early on in a season would be massive for us. That is the main aim although the final is not until next month.

“It is going to be a massive game. But, we can’t really start to think about that just now. We have plenty of big games to focus on before then starting with Porto on Thursday night. It is a huge match.”
