BORNA BARISIC has been serenaded by Rangers fans as he has become a firm Ibrox favourite in the opening weeks of the season.

Now he wants to give supporters more reasons to be cheerful as Rangers look to build on their Betfred Cup win over Hearts.

Steven Gerrard’s side ensured there was no repeat of their Hampden heartache from last term as the Jambos were beaten 3-0 in the semi-finals on Sunday.

And Barisic is determined to maintain the positive mood by overcoming Porto and Livingston in the coming days.

Barisic said: “I know we lost the last game [against Aberdeen] but I think we have grown up as a team since then and that is important. We showed that on Sunday and the performance on the pitch was very good. I have to say that our fans were also amazing as always. So thank you for that support.

“I really enjoy it when they sing my song, it is an amazing feeling. When I say it to my friends in Croatia, they listen to the song! It is really good. Of course it gives you a boost. I am a professional player and when someone sings your song, especially when there are 20,000 or 30,000 people, it is amazing, really amazing.

“To be honest, I think every week at Rangers is big and every game you need to go to win.

“We are looking forward to Porto and it is a very important game for us because I think we can go through the group stages. We need to show a good performance on Thursday and then we have Livingston where we need to win.

“Like I say, at Rangers you need to have that mentality and you always have to win.

“We are looking for that and we want to win both games. We will see what will happen this week.”
