Alex Rae is certain Rangers won't sell Alfredo Morelos in January - because it would derail their Premiership push and go against everything they've set up over the past two years.

Steven Gerrard has got his players fighting again and challenging for trophies at every opportunity.

The manager himself even came out and unequivocally stated the Colombian would be going nowhere at the start of the next window.

Rangers should pursue self-sustainability with the same vigour as the Scottish title

And Rae, 50, is completely behind the Rangers boss' mindset and doesn't see Morelos going anywhere until at least the end of the season.

Speaking to Ladbrokes Social Club, he said: "It's very difficult, it's a very different proposition when you're talking about a bid of tens of millions, you'd have to look at that from a business aspect.

"But I agree with Steven Gerrard, if Morelos goes in January you may as well wrap it up, pull down the shutters because it'd be extremely difficult for the fans to take because they've had so many barren years of late.

Rangers defender Connor Goldson calls for stronger action from referees against 'ridiculous challenges' that are holding back Scottish football

"100 percent it won't happen, these guys are willing to put millions upon millions, year on year, to get to a particular level.

"They're at that level where they're competing on all fronts at the moment. To sell your main asset goes against everything.

"For me, they may well wait in the summer which could give Ross Wilson the potential to get a good replacement in place, and you'd have a lot of money coming back into the club."
