ROSS WILSON is confident Rangers have a replacement for Alfredo Morelos lined-up for when the Colombian leaves Ibrox.

Morelos scored his 22nd goal of the season in the win over Livingston on Sunday and boss Steven Gerrard has repeatedly insisted that he won’t sell his top scorer during the January window.

Rangers look set to bank at least £20million when Morelos does move on in the future. Many fans are resigned to the 23-year-old departing in the summer and Sporting Director Wilson has a plan for every eventuality

Wilson said: “He looks an interesting player eh? He looks exciting, there is no doubt about that. He is scoring goals at an incredible rate and a player who, at this moment in time, looks like he could play in any league.

“So, yeah, he is an exciting player for sure. He is a player who, when you look at the level he is playing at for Rangers at this moment in time, looks like he could play in any league. Clearly the test comes when you are actually playing in that league. But right here, right now for sure he does.

“It looks an excellent piece of business, to buy a player who’s had the journey Alfredo’s had here for £1million. To score the goals he’s had, to come through the journey he’s had, which hasn’t always been easy all the time, and to be at the level he’s at today is a great example.

“I think it’s a conversation that’s ongoing with the scouts all the time. One of the aims of the scouting and recruitment department is to make sure that in every position we always have a strong list of where we might go in a what-if scenario and that’s something we’ve got and it’s something that will build and evolve and develop all the time. And it’s something we have to make sure we get better at all the time.

“So the answer is yes but it will be something that develops on an ongoing basis all the time.”
