BT Sport has retained the exclusive broadcasting rights to the Champions League and the Europa League until the summer of 2024.
The current television deal was due to expire in 2021, with Sky and ITV reportedly interested in challenging the broadcaster for the rights to the two UEFA competitions.
BT Sport is expected to announce the deal that allows them to show every game live and air highlights imminently.
The fee paid to UEFA is understood to be in the range of £1.2 billion - the same sum that the boradcaster paid for the previous three-year deal.
UEFA are said to be delighted to have secured the investment following predictions from experts that there would be a drop-off in income from the sale of television rights after revenues for the Premier League broadcasting deals fell last year.
