Ex-Arsenal man Lee Dixon has taken a light-hearted pop at Brendan Rodgers over leaving Celtic as he tipped him for the Tottenham job.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was sacked this evening after a five-and-a-half year stint in London.

José Mourinho is the out-and-out favourite at odds-on, but Rodgers remains on the shortlist and among the frontrunners with the bookies.

Rodgers left Celtic in the middle of last season, prompting Hoops fans to remain salty towards their former gaffer.

And Dixon - who spent 14 years at Spurs' rivals Arsenal - pointed to the fact that Rodgers "jumped" from Glasgow to Leicester at the earliest opportunity - and he wouldn't be surprised if he did it again.

Taking to social media, Dixon laughed: "Brendan is off the bench and doing his stretches #hehasjumpedbefore", with a laugh emoji.
